It’s rare that movies based on books are anywhere near as good as the original. I can think of a few, but for the most part, either the screenwriter and director knew the novel inside and out, or the book wasn’t very good to begin with. Most well-written books have internal dialogue or written discussions of the characters’ actions that just don’t translate to film.
But despite my knowledge that, for the most part, my favorite book will become a dissapointing movie, I still get excited at the prospect of seeing characters I love come to life. So, with a little help from members of YALSA, here’s a look at some of the film adaptations coming out in the next year:
